MARGO STILLEY

You are shooting one of the cheesiest and one of the coolest television shows at the same time. What does this say about you?
Haha! It was an interesting Summer, that’s for sure.  The set of The Royals is hair and make up and costume and sets with lighting and schedules weeks in advance.  The Trip has no hair, no make up, no costume, no schedule and no script ! But it’s very fun to be able to work in such different styles on the same day and both shows have incredible talent involved.

How was it to work with Michael Winterbottom again after all these years?
Michael was one of the first directors I worked with and being on set with him and his production crew feels like family by now. We have known each other so long.  I love that he still works with the same people and I’m very lucky to be invited back.

Writing has always been an important part of who you are. Do you have any big writing projects that keep you busy or one that begs to be written?
I have written two tv shows in the past 2 years.  They aren’t %100 ready yet, which is exhausting and sad.  I’ve put so much research and love and time into them… I don’t know how perfect something has to be before you show it to someone else.

How do you prepare for writing a script?
I decided to get a job as a waitress in three strip clubs in LA for 3 months to do research for a show that I want to write, set behind the scenes of a club in Florida. It was the darkest time of my life.  Its hard to love someone who can’t help but hurt themselves. And I fell for every girl I that met… and I watched each one of them self destruct every day with a smile on their faces and the wickedest senses of humour I’d ever heard.  It was an emotionally confusing time.

What is it about London the keeps on calling you back?
London is my home.  I grew up with my friends here.  I learned how to date and socialise here.  I call all public trains the tube.  I love London.  I’ve always loved London.
